RP3025: Sydney TAFE Carbon Reduction Website

Project leader name:
Rick Duynhoven, TAFE
Project status:
Complete
Project period:
05/2015 to 05/2016

In cooperation with the RP3010 Building Low Carbon Communities project, Sydney TAFE will provide knowledge and skills training to support action on low carbon living through development and use of a carbon reduction website. The website will comprise a four-part interactive course and interactive forums that can be used across communities, regions and CRCLCL project areas to support understanding and embedding of low carbon living and decision-making.

The site will be aimed at providing unlimited participation and open access to best practice course materials such as videos, readings and problem sets. Whilst aimed at businesses, these materials will be freely available to community members. It will also provide interactive user forums that help build a community of small business, tradespersons/contractors, students and educational staff.

The four units will cover:

  • Carbon reduction and community benefit
  • Carbon Reduction in practice: measuring, reporting and prospects
  • Developing and communicating a business case for low carbon work
  • How to implement and measure effective ‘low carbon’ work practices.

Successful completion of these units with identifiable work practices will provide entry points to a range of further skill set opportunities and qualification pathways. These can be provided by the MSS11 - Sustainability Training Package in qualifications from Certificate II in Competitive Systems and Practices through to Vocational Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Operations and Vocational Graduate Diploma of Competitive Systems and Practices.
