Construction industry giant Brookfield Multiplex and leading design and engineering consultancies HASSELL and AECOM have partnered with the Cooperative Research Centre for Low-Carbon Living (CRCLCL) in a three year project to develop buildings that have a positive impact on people’s health, wellbeing and productivity and improve their environmental performance.
The project, called ‘Closing the Loop’, will connect the wealth of evidence that exists for high performance buildings with front end decision makers through better business case analysis, professional education, practical tools and guidelines.

An international scientific committee of 10 leading sustainability experts from various disciplines in low-carbon and resilience research and urban design will punch above its weight in promoting, overseeing and guiding transformational research and future city planning for the Australian Visions and Pathways 2040 Project said its leader Prof Chris Ryan today.

The game-based learning to reduce carbon footprint project is commencing with newly appointed project lead Professor Leon Sterling and project manager Blaise Murphet. Swinburne University of Technology will lead a project that aims to educate and motivate people to work collaboratively to adopt low carbon products and services. With a range of industry and industry peak bodies as partners it will deliver innovative mobile learning applications that engage professionals, tradespeople and consumers in relation to low carbon living outcomes in built environment projects.

The team behind Josh's House were the big winners at the 2014 Master Builders WA Housing Excellence Awards in Perth on Saturday night, winning the Waterwise Home, Most Liveable Home and Excellence in Energy Efficiency categories. Josh’s House is one of the three Living Laboratories being funded by the CRC, and a leading example of low carbon building development in Australia.

A commitment to sustainability and the development of greener cities has resulted in Australia Day honours for Scientia Professor Deo Prasad, CEO of the CRC for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL). He has been appointed as an Officer of the General Division of the Order of Australia.
