SP0017p5 - Urban heat islands (UHI) coupled with UHI effects of Solar PV

Project leader name:
A/Prof Lan Ding
Project status:
Complete
Project period:
05/2019 to 10/2019
This project engages in the assessment of urban development impact on urban heat islands (UHI) coupled with the UHI effect of solar PV. It will identify key indicators and interrelated attributes for the assessment, and develop assessment methods drawing on scientific research, case studies and projects available within the CRC for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL). A key outcome of the project is an adaptation of the CRC for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL) UHI Decision-Support Tool to support well-informed assessment of the UHI impact of development application so that guidance can be provided on improvements.

This project seeks to answer the following research questions:

  • To what extent do urban form, publicrealm, and mitigation technologieshelp reduce urban heat island effectsand peak electricity demand?
  • How does the solar photovoltaic (PV)affect urban heat island effects (UHI)?
  • ...
